The Dock Park has once again proved to be a place for locals and visitors to come to have a picnic, take the kids to the play park and enjoy the crazy-golf, putting and trampolines on offer for children. As well as this, the bowling has proved popular with all age groups and the park has also played host to some open air music and art events, namely Youth Beatz, held last month.
Last year, as a result of a public vote, Dock Park won the Green Flag People’s Choice Award in Scotland. Dock Park needs your vote again to try and retain this award for a second year. Voting is now open until noon on Wednesday 30 September at www.greenflagaward.org.
Colin Smyth, who chairs the Council’s Economy, Enivonment and Infrastructure Committee said;

“We were delighted that the Dock Park was recently awarded a coveted Green Flag for the second year running, which is worthy recognition of the way the council has totally transformed the park. However, it would be an added bonus to repeat last year’s outstanding achievement by being voted the number one park in Scotland. The regeneration of the Dock Park has been a fantastic success and visitors and local families alike see it as a real jewel in the crown for Dumfries. The Dock Park has a lot of support from the community, so I hope people will once again vote for Park to be Scotland’s No.1 ”
