DUMFRIES SUPERSTAR CALVIN HARRIS IS THE SUBJECT OF A NEW BIOGRAPHY TO BE PUBLISHED NEXT YEAR

The book Calvin Harris: The $100 Million DJ, from Black and White Publishing in Edinburgh, will chart Harris’s astonishing journey from struggling musician to one of the most successful pop artists on the planet.

Harris has come a long way since the days when he was simply humble Adam Wiles, who had jobs in Pinney’s fish factory in Annan and in Safeway and Marks and Spencer in Dumfries.

Since bursting on to the music scene with ‘Acceptable in the 80s’ in 2007 he has broken Michael Jackson’s record for most hits from one album, become the first British artist to have one billion plays on Spotify and turned hit-maker for stars like Kylie Minogue, Rihanna, Cheryl Cole and Dizzee Rascal. This year Forbes listed him as the world’s highest paid DJ for the second year running and recently scored his fifth number one hit – and his third this year.

The book is being written by Douglas Wight, a journalist for over 20 years and author of seven non-fiction titles. He has visited Dumfries and Annan in the course of his research and said: “It’s clear the people of Dumfries are very proud of Calvin Harris. There’s huge appreciation for what he’s achieved.
”I’ve been delighted with the response I’ve had but would love to hear from anyone who could offer any background or colour to give his fans some insight they might not previously have known”.
