NHS DUMFRIES SHOW IMAGES OF NEW HOSPITAL

NHS Dumfries and Galloway are delighted to mark the start of a new partnership as they introduce High Wood Health at an event for the official project launch of the new district general hospital for the region.
The event at the Easterbrook Hall, will showcase the winning design for a range of stakeholders who will hear of firm plans to turn a shared vision into a reality. Part of this vision for building a modern, fit for purpose facility set to benefit patients and staff, is the potential for a significant and unique contribution to the economic regeneration of the region.

Jeff Ace, Chief Executive for NHS Dumfries and Galloway said:
“We are delighted to be working with High Wood Health. They fully understand our ambition to be able to provide the best care possible for patients and an excellent working environment for our staff. High Wood Health have taken our reference design and produced a design for a fantastic new facility which will be built within exceptional surroundings. The design complements our plan for a new model of care both in terms of how our staff will work together in the new hospital, and with our staff across the region.”

Dennis O’Keeffe, Project Director said:
“Following an intense period of competitive dialogue we announced High Wood Health as our Preferred Bidder on the 1st September. Their proposed solution is one that brings to bear a consortium of outstanding designers and contractors with considerable expertise, innovation and resources to fulfil our expectations. Working in a spirit of partnership we are confident that we can turn these proposals into a reality that will enable the Board to deliver improved healthcare services across the region and significant benefits to the entire community.

“As part of their final tender bid High Wood Health have committed to a range of benefits for the people of Dumfries and Galloway, including the creation of 150 new jobs, 36 of which will be apprenticeships, and a number of curriculum-linked events and work-experience placements for all ages, using partnerships developed with Dumfries and Galloway Employment TAP and CiTB Construction Skills.”

David Hunter, Bid Director for High Wood Health, said:
“We’ve been working closely with NHS Dumfries and Galloway and their clinical experts throughout the bid process to understand and respond to the needs of their staff and the community. We believe the proposed design will deliver a world class health facility for the people of Dumfries and Galloway, and we’re looking forward to developing this further as we work towards financial close in early 2015.”
