PROGRAMME OF EVENTS LAUNCHED FOR DUMFRIES CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON 2014

Dumfries Christmas Extravaganza
It’s Going To Be A Cracker!

With the Dumfries Christmas Extravaganza taking place on Thursday November 27th the excitement is beginning to build
The first ever Dumfries Christmas Market takes place from 9.30am.
Located down the lower half of Bank Street (from Irish Street), and running in front of The Coach & Horses on the Whitesands, the market will feature established businesses as well as showcase stalls from local Young Entrepreneurs who are supported by Dumfries & Galloway Council and Business Gateway Plus. These stalls are being financed by Dumfries Retailers’ Association. The range on offer holds something for everyone, The Art Room are showcasing some great gift ideas, Jessica Florence Jewellery will have something different for the ladies, handmade cards come from Sammis while photography is on show from David Moses.
There’s things to eat too, Hullabaloo and Big Pizza Pies will be on hand to feed the family.
With home made preserves from “By Heck”, Bee Providers and The Earths Crust there is something for everyone.
The children will be entertained by all the fun activities taking place in the High Street from Noon.

With a ski slope, ice rink, snow globe, fun fair rides and of course the chance to visit Santa in his grotto the family will have lots to keep them entertained.
The Plainstaines plays host to the main entertainment of the day with singers and performers on stage from 1pm.

There’s a Disney sing-a-long starting the day, whilst local singer songwriter Clara Stevenson takes to the stage from 2.15pm, at 2.45pm Maeve Reekie entertains with her ukuele, the amazingly talented Emma McNeil is on from 3.15pm before the Disney gang are back on stage.
At 4.15pm the DG cheerleaders are dancing the afternoon away and REWIND perform at 5pm.
The Provost, Queen of the South and guests take to the Plainstaines at 5.30pm for the BIG COUNTDOWN which is also being broadcast on Alive 107.3.
The Switch On happens at 6pm then the Christmas sounds of Dumfries Baptist Church Choir round out the days events.
