Castle MacLellan Donates £37,500 to Support Kirkcudbright RNLI

Castle MacLellan Foods Limited, the largest employer in Kirkcudbright and a champion of local producers, is proud to announce a donation of £37,500 in support of the refurbishment of the Kirkcudbright RNLI Lifeboat Station.

This contribution underscores Castle MacLellan’s unique ownership under Kavli Trust, a charitable foundation that donates all profits to good causes, both locally and globally.

This substantial donation directly supports the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and its Kirkcudbright appeal to raise £50,000 for a much-needed upgrade to their historic lifeboat station. For over 160 years, the station has played a pivotal role in saving lives along the Solway Firth, one of the UK’s most challenging coastal areas. The funds will enhance facilities for volunteer crews, improve safety and welfare, and modernize the station to ensure it meets 21st-century standards.

A Commitment to Community and Sustainability
Castle MacLellan Foods Limited is deeply rooted in the Kirkcudbright community. Beyond being a major local employer, the company champions Scottish artisan producers and sustainable practices to create high-quality pâtés and food products enjoyed across the UK and beyond.

“Castle MacLellan is more than a business; we are part of the fabric of Kirkcudbright,” said Sam Warren, Site Operations Manager. “As the largest employer in the area, we recognise the importance of supporting our community, whether through promoting local producers or ensuring lifesaving projects like the Kirkcudbright Lifeboat Station, have the resources they need to thrive.”

Supporting the Lifesavers of Kirkcudbright
The Kirkcudbright Lifeboat Station has served the region since the 19th century, responding to emergencies with dedication and bravery. The funds donated by Castle MacLellan will help provide upgraded facilities, including improved crew changing areas, enhanced access to the boathouse, and a dedicated workshop. These improvements will not only make operations safer and more efficient but also strengthen ties between the lifeboat station and the local community.

“Every day, our volunteer crews risk their lives to protect others,” said Jeff Dolby, Charmain of Kirkcudbright RNLI. “This generous contribution from Castle MacLellan brings us closer to achieving our goal of creating a lifeboat station that will serve the community for generations to come.”
