Kirkcudbright Head Boy And Girl Address Rotary Club

Kirkcudbright Rotary Club were recently delighted to welcome Kirkcudbright Academy Head Girl, Maisie Anderson, and Head Boy, Huw Hodson to attend one of their weekly evening meetings at the Club.

They were invited to enjoy a meal before addressing the Club members. They spoke about some of the challenges that they have experienced because of Covid, and the frustration that they are feeling about the restrictions that this has placed on their plans to serve the community and to raise funds for their chosen charities.  However, they did speak with enthusiasm about working with Rotary, even though the current Covid situation has made it difficult for the students to meet with Rotarians.

This has limited the traditional fundraising that the school and the Rotary have been able to do together. However, they said they were pleased to have given their help alongside Rotary in activities helping to protect the environment. They and some of the other senior students have been regularly litter picking and helping with planting trees.

They also talked about the possibility of working with Rotary in the New Year on a project to improve the local environment within the town. The evening was brought to a conclusion by the Academy Headteacher, Anthony Tuffery, who spoke highly of the work that his Prefect team were doing within the school as well as commending the strength of the working partnership that has developed between the his school and Kirkcudbright Rotary Club.”
