FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN BOARD OF REGIONS TOP ARTS FESTIVAL

An opportunity to help in the development of the performing arts across the region
A call has gone out for people with an interest in the performing arts to join the region’s premier arts festival and have a say in its future.
Established since 1979, the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival is Scotland’s largest rural performing arts festival.
The festival runs over ten days at the end of May each year and promotes a lively and varied programme involving an eclectic range of high quality performances in music, drama, dance, and comedy in a wide range of venues from the intimate Swallow Theatre in the West of the region to the grandeur of the Easterbrook Hall.
This year’s festival is the most ambitious yet featuring 82 events in 42 venues over a 2,500-square-mile stage across the full breadth of the region. For 2015, the festival is working with the Holywood Trust to provide a wider range of opportunities for young people to engage with the festival.
Festival chair, Ken Gouge, said: “We are currently working with Dumfries and Galloway Council, D&G Unlimited and Creative Scotland to explore how we can best develop a sustainable infrastructure for the performing arts across the region throughout the year.
