Opportunities for Volunteers at the New Kirkcudbright Galleries

A range of interesting opportunities is available to those who are keen to be involved as volunteers, when the major redevelopment of the former Town Hall opens in 2018 as the new Kirkcudbright Galleries.

Kirkcudbright Galleries will feature a major selection of work from its Kirkcudbright Artists’ Collection, which has not been displayed together previously. This collection is of recognised national significance.

Volunteer opportunities at the new galleries will include in-depth tours of this collection, where there are many interesting stories and anecdotes to be told.

Special events and activities will also be mounted at Kirkcudbright Galleries. Volunteers will be able to assist with workshops and activities, with the aim of bringing the historic art and artists of the town alive for audiences both young and old.

The year-long temporary exhibition programme will ensure that there is always something new and changing. Whether it is contemporary painting, book illustration, ceramics or silver, volunteers can look forward to finding out the fine details of the individual exhibitions.

Councillor Andy Ferguson, Chair of the Communities Committee, said, “Kirkcudbright Galleries will provide many interesting and varied opportunities for people to support the new gallery and to learn more about the nationally significant Kirkcudbright Artists’ Collection”.
