The Stove Network Announces AGM Date

Dumfries based “The Stove Network” are holding their Annual General Meeting  on Wednesday 22nd November at 100 High Street, Dumfries at 6pm. The AGM is the chance for all Stove members to hear about activity during the past year, priorities for the next one, and to have their say about what The Stove should be doing in the future.

Tony Fitzpatrick, Chair of the Board for The Stove Network, commented: “There is no doubt that The Stove has now established itself as one of the key elements of our arts, cultural and community offer, both in and beyond Dumfries town centre. There is clear evidence that arts-led regeneration has a major part to play in re-inventing our towns and engaging communities, businesses and partners alike. The Stove now has a national reputation as something of a leader in this field, but it is by focussing on our incredible local talent and community commitment that we have had most impact; something we will continue to do moving forward.”

The Stove is now a significant part of the conversation about the future of Dumfries town centre and a thriving creative community. Current work includes ‘Midsteeple Quarter’ where The Stove is leading a diverse community partnership in a proposal for local people to take back disused High Street buildings as town centre housing. 2017 also saw The Stove start a 4-year Big Lottery funded project around creative community development for North West Dumfries – as well as staging an average of 3 free public events per week at their base at 100 High Street. The AGM is a great opportunity for people to get together to reflect on what has been achieved in the last year and discuss plans for 2018 and beyond. The AGM plays an important role in the running of The Stove as the evening will also include the election of the Board of Trustees who will take care of the governance of the organisation for the next year.

All members of the public are welcome to attend on Wednesday 22nd November from 6pm – the café will be open and serving hot drinks and there will also be snacks. Please note that only Stove members can vote at the AGM.
