Don’t miss your chance to see some amazing artisan made works of art. Opening this week at the Tolbooth Art Centre is a wonderful and unique exhibition of the work of silversmith Michael Lloyd.
Much of the work shows Michael’s speciality; chasing. This is where metal is worked from the outer layer by hammering with various tools that raise, depress, or push aside the metal without removing any from the surface. It creates beautiful and subtle designs in the surface of the silver. Many of the exquisite works on display are for sale, but viewing of these wonderful pieces in itself is certainly quite an experience.
The exhibition opens on Wednesday 9 July and runs until Sunday 29 July. Monday to Saturday 10-4, Sunday 1-4. Admission free.
