A ‘CAPITAL’ £26 THOUSAND RAISED FOR CHARITY – RDH

 

The 5 runners of the Run Doonhame – 5 Capitals Challenge and their support team met for one final time last night at Easterbrook Hall where they presented cheques to representatives of their two chosen charties last night

Friends, families and supporters gathered for the Premier of the RDH 2016 video which charted the gruelling 8 day challenge which saw the runners clock up over 750 miles in 10km relays, running non stop from London to Edinburgh via Cardiff, Dublin and Belfast, before each runner completed the Edinburgh Marathon.

Runner, Sergeant Iain McKie gave a vote of thanks to everyone who supported the challenge in particular Hardip Atwal and Graham Smith who organised a series of multicultural fundraising events in Dumfries and Annan.

Iain added “At the outset of this years challenge we set ourselves an ambicious target of  £10,000. We are delighted to announce that we completely smashed this with a grand total of £26,431.50.

Emma Cowan and Tommy Jardine from Cash for Kids Dumfries and Galloway and Christine Fultin and Jill Foster of Care of Police Survivors were each presented with cheques for £13,215.75.

Runner Constable Ian Dawes thanked  everyone who donated and gave praise to the people of Dumfries and Galloway in particular a number of local businesses for their generosity”.
