Two friends, Alex McDonald and Scott Leitch ( Both in their 30’s ) set off from Ireland early this morning to row 28 miles across the notoriously difficult Northern Channel to Portpatrick to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Alex from Cumbria who has family from Kirkinner in Dumfries and Galloway Said “I normally travel by sea in style onboard a ferry. However I will sacrifice this luxury and attempt to row the notoriously difficult Northern Channel from Northern Ireland to Scotland. 8 hours of hard rowing is nothing compared to the struggle people with cancer face on a daily basis.
Losing Mum last year to Cancer made me realise even more how Family, Friends and our Health are the most precious things that we can have.”“My good friend Scott Leitch and decided to attempt to cross the Irish Sea by rowing boat. This is to remember and celebrate the lives of everyone who has been affected by cancer. Neither have us have ever rowed this far before.
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose!”
The Boys have set off and all seems to be going well so far, They should be arriving in Portpatrick, Dumfries and Galloway Between 3-4 pm this afternoon, Friday August the 3rd 2018.
