19 Year Old Dumfries Guide Leader Needs Help To Help Deprived Children

19 Year Old Victoria Brett  is an adult guide leader at Maxwelltown West in Dumfries and volunteers there every Wednesday night providing a range of activities. Victoria is trying to raise £2000 so she can head to Cambodia to help deprived children.

The Girl Guide movement is a safe environment for girls between the ages of 10-14 years to enjoy themselves, learn new skills and serve their community. Victoria herself has been part of the movement since she was 6 years old and has now been given the opportunity as a leader to travel to Cambodia along with 8 other leaders from all over Scotland.

Victoria told DGWGO “The team will travel to the Village of Treak where we will complete a service project that will address some of the deprivation the villagers face on a daily basis. we are going to help build a school there, teach English classes and assist in nursery classes.”

For this trip to be possible each individual needs to raise a total of approximately £2,000 to cover the costs involved (food, flights, accommodation, vaccinations, equipment etc).

Victoria Said “Should anyone be able to help toward this cost, it would be much appreciated and enable our movement to provide much needed aid to the very poorest people in the world. Without donations from yourself and others this project wouldn’t be possible. I would like to thank everyone that has donated so far, and also thank everybody in advance that is considering donating, every penny helps and is appreciated!”
