£10,000 Funding Boost For Local Charity

Dumfries and Galloway based charity Sports Driving Unlimited has received a welcome funding boost with a grant of £9775 from St James’s Place Foundation.

The charity provides carriage driving sessions for disabled people both individuals and in groups, who come from across the whole of Dumfries & Galloway.  This funding will enable their activities to continue over the coming months.

Many of the charity’s disabled drivers competed at an event held at Chariots  of Fire EC in Boreland over last weekend.   At the prize-giving on Sunday, they were able to show their appreciation directly to Steve Brough of SRB Wealth Management who came to Boreland to present the cheque on behalf of the St James’s Place Foundation.   Members of the Lockerbie & District Rotary club, long term supporters of Sports Driving Unlimited, also attended the presentation.

Brenda Hodgson, chairperson at Sports Driving Unlimited  said, ” the trustees are thrilled that the charity has been awarded this funding.  It will make a huge difference to lots of disabled people who get so much from their carriage driving experiences.  Some of it will be used to train some of our drivers in preparation for the indoor carriage driving season over the winter.”

Charities that would like to apply for a grant can contact Steve Brough on telephone number 01698 536064 for further information.
