Maxwelltown Community Development Body “Maxhamer” Starts With A Bang

The Maxwelltown Development Body (AKA) MAXHAMER has hit its dear hame Maxwelltown with a sparkling progressive ‘maximum’ bang!

Maxhamer, The Maxwelltown Community Development Body, is an independent endeavour affiliated to Maxwelltown area of Dumfries.

We are here to promote and encourage community participation in healthy recreation by providing opportunities for artistic and interactive engagement with our friends in Maxwelltown.

Projects involve regeneration of community areas, utilising the minds of the Maxwelltown people, as well as the ‘Maxwell Toon’s’ – an aptly named force of volunteers who are aiming to bring life into the DG2 side of oor river.

Up until this point, Maxwelltown has been an echo in the memories of the Dumfries & Galloway memoir. It’s nice to finally see things come to life.

Maxhamer Director Oliver Sudden stated in regard to the project,

“I was having a pint in The Salutation, and I’d had plans to do something in this area for a while. Initially we were supposed to regenerate certain spots as part of this January’s Wee Fringe Festival, but unfortunately, there was no time amidst all the other work which was required. I’m glad the project is progressing and can’t wait to see what happens next.

I’d also like to put a big shout out and thanks to the following people who have assisted me; Lee McQueen, Jane Brown, Carol Brotherton! These folks have been really helpful to me over the course of this project, and they are exceptional members of our community.”
