Mayday Mayday Mayday ‘Save The Date’

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea.  We provide, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK and Ireland.  The RNLI has 55 lifeboats based at 46 lifeboat stations in Scotland, ready to launch at any time, in all weathers, to go to the aid of those in distress. In addition the RNLI operates a Flood Rescue Team in Scotland which is made up of around 30 volunteers from RNLI crews, ready to deploy anywhere in the country. The RNLI is a charity – 95% of our total income comes from donations and we are separate from the Coastguard and independent of the Government so we couldn’t do what we do without the generosity of the very generous public who donate to RNLI.

Our brave volunteer RNLI lifeboat crews battle the harshest conditions at sea as they selflessly go to the aid of people in distress.  Having the right kit can make the crucial difference between life and death for them and the people they save.

What we do is priceless but our kit has a cost.  In 2018 our annual fundraising campaign MAYDAY will raise funds to buy kit for the lifeboats stations around the UK and Ireland.

It is a nationwide campaign, themed around the RNLI yellow wellies which are an essential part of the crew member’s kit.  We will have fundraising events happening across the country throughout the month of May including ‘Welly Bake Sales, Wear Your Wellies to Work, Welly Walks, Collections and much more.  The ideas are endless.  We would love you to come on board!
