Best Boob Forward are a team of 6 local woman from around the Stewartry area of Dumfries and Galloway who are hoping to raise as much money possible for Walk the Walk- a charity which unites against breast cancer. The team will be tackling the Full Moon Walk on the 9th June 2018, power walking an overnight marathon in Edinburgh whilst wearing hand decorated bras.
Team member Megan Burney told DGWGO “What started as a conversation over a cup of coffee has turned into a massive health kick for the team as training is now well underway, with the excitement of getting healthier and becoming more active all whilst raising money for a wonderful cause.
This unique marathon has proven challenging as the team have had to build their pace and increase their distance capability over the last several months. Motivation can sometimes be hard to find on the colder and darker nights we often seem to have at this time of year in the South West of Scotland, with wind and rain being an extra obstacle- alongside the Beast from the East which made training almost unbearable.
Team members often find themselves training alone due to shift patterns and family commitments which can often increase the difficulty of the challenge as the moral support from the other team members isn’t always readily available. The in depth training program provided by the organisers of Walk the Walk covers everything from swimming to stretching to ensure participants are capable of partaking in this testing challenge. Despite the blisters, shin splints and the new healthy diet the team continue to amaze their family and friends as they push themselves harder than ever.”
