Following reports of an unexploded bomb at the Waste Recycling Centre at Corsehill near Annan, Dumfries and Galloway Council would like to reassure members of the public and make the following statement:
A spokesperson for Dumfries and Galloway Council said: “There is no truth in the story that an unexploded wartime bomb was found at the Corsehill Waste Disposal Site near Annan yesterday.
One of the staff from nearby Chapelcross was in the area of the B722 towards Creca when he found an old oxygen cylinder in the Hedgerow.
Police closed the road from nearby Corsehill as a precaution whilst the cylinder was removed.
The recycling centre is open for business as normal, and we would like to reassure the public that there is no reason to be alarmed.
