A75/A77 Action Group Meet Transport Minister At Holyrood

Last week (15.11.2017), Dumfries and Galloway MSP, Finlay Carson welcomed the A75/A77 Action Group to Parliament. The Group, along with Carson, met with the Scottish Government’s Transport Minister, Humza Yousaf to discuss duelling both roads.

Following a lengthy discussion on the merits of the such action, Humza Yousaf has announced that a strategic report on developing the A75/A77 will be commissioned.

Commenting, Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson said:

I welcome the announcement that there is to be a strategic report prepared on the A75 & A77.
“At last, there is some action from the Government who have repeatedly promised investment in road infrastructure in the South West and have failed to deliver over the last ten years in Government.Furthermore, the Dumfries and Galloway Council have unfortunately been absent from discussions in the last few months.
“It is important that they step up to the mark and highlight the economic impact that a failure to act would have on the region.
“It is a testament to the A75 and A77 pressure groups and elected members, that these roads are at the top of the Transport Minister’s agenda on a weekly basis.
“I look forward to attending the Scottish Parliament’s Petitions Committee on Thursday, where the issue will be discussed further.
“Having previously given evidence at Committee, lobbied Government Ministers, and met with the local action group, I understand the importance of these roads to individuals, business and tourism in the South West of Scotland.
“I will continue to raise and push for further investment to road infrastructure on the A75 & A77.”
