DG Sands Group Create Special Area of Remembrance at St Michael’s in Dumfries

Dumfries & Galloway Sands Group (DG Sands) recently held a ceremony which marked the culmination of the work carried out at St. Michaels, Dumfries

DG Sands were delighted so many people could join them to celebrate this achievement, and that Fiona Armstrong Lord Lieutenant of Dumfriesshire graciously attended.

Spiritual lead for NHS D&G Dawn Allan performed a fitting blessing and piper Danny Clarke played two beautiful and appropriately moving tunes.

DG Sands hope the two areas will provide comfort to families and give babies the fitting tribute they deserve.

The work was done by two local artists, Max Nowell, who did the sandstone work, and Adam Booth who created the galvanised butterflies.

Border Signs & Graphics created the bespoke bench under the tree. The overall design was created by us with the professional guidance of Fiona Robertson, Landscape Gardener. The area will be maintained by D&G Sands with the help of Mr. A Robison, gardener.

Parents can have a plaque with their babies’ name placed on sandstone around the border, this can be arranged through D&G Council, cost of approximately £100.

The work carried out was made possible by over £35,000 being raised locally.
DG Sands want to thank everyone who contributed to and supported this very important project.
