Dumfries Bypass Set To Close This Weekend For Resurfacing Works

Scheduled resurfacing work on the Dumfries Bypass will be in place this weekend on the A75 Marchfield to Edinburgh Road.

A local diversion will be in place throughout the works. Eastbound diversion will be in place via Glasgow Street, Buccleuch Street, Loreburn Street, English Street and A780 Annan Road.

The project adds to the £4m that has already been invested by Transport Scotland across Dumfries and Galloway’s trunk road network over the last 12 months.

Scotland TranServ will carry out the work over one weekend between Friday 10 July to Monday 13 July 2015.

Gordon Wilson, contract director, Scotland TranServ said: “Dumfries and Galloway is the gateway to Scotland and is the first stop for thousands of tourists heading to the south west region.

“We are doing everything we can to minimise disruption by carrying these works out over one weekend however we would advise motorists to plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journeys.”

Westbound diversion will be in place via A780 Annan Road, Shakespeare Street, White Sands and Glasgow Street.

Motorists can keep up to date with real time traffic information by visiting www.trafficscotland.org or following @Traffic Scotland on Twitter.

Advanced warning signs will also be in place on the approach to inform motorists that roadworks are taking place.
