Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell is urging people to sign a petition to dual the A75 which is his main priority for the region.

The petition which was started by teenage campaigners Lewis Irving, Adam Little and Danny Pool has attracted over 1,000 signatures already but Mr Mundell wants to see that number rise even further.

The petition which is live on the Scottish Parliament website closes on Wednesday July 13th and Mr Mundell wants a loud as voice as possible to be sent to the Scottish Government that the road badly needs upgraded.

Commenting Oliver Mundell MSP said: “The A75 is my number one priority as the constituency MSP for Dumfriesshire and I give huge praise to the youngsters who have driven this campaign forward to the heart of the Scottish Government.

“With the A75 not being duelled, our economy continues to lose out on business opportunities and the investment that has been directed into other major roads across Scotland by the SNP now simply has to be replicated in this region.

“The voices of over 1,000 people simply can’t be ignored and I’d urge anyone who feels the A75 has not been given the right level of priority by the Scottish Government to sign this petition.

“I will be raising the issue when John Swinney chairs a Transport summit in the region and this petition will be a great way of showing Mr Swinney the strength of feeling on the A75.”
