Gang Assault 21 Year Old Man At Bus Stop – Locharbriggs

Police Scotland officers in Dumfries are seeking witnesses to an assault which took place at around 10.45 pm on Friday 25 August 2017 at a bus stop on Auchencrieff Road in Locharbriggs.

At that time a 21 year old man was waiting for a bus into Dumfries when he was approached by a group of 4 or 5 youths aged around 17-19. The youths who were unknown to the victim are then alleged to have assaulted him.

As a result of the alleged assault the victim was required to attend Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

One of the youths was described as 5ft 8 and had short dark hair and stubble. Another member of the group had long fair hair. All the boys were approximately 17-19 years old and had local accents.

Constable Bena Murray at Dumfries said “This appears to be an unprovoked assault on a 21 year old man while he waited on a bus into town. The attack has resulted in the victim being left with bruising to his forehead, face, ears, left eye and chest which required him to attend hospital for treatment for his injuries. I would ask that anyone who witnessed the assault or knows the identity of the youths involved to contact Police on the 101 number”.
