Hit and Run – Galloway Street, Dumfries

About 7.40 AM on Tuesday 18th December 2018, a 72 year old woman from Dumfries was knocked down by a dark coloured 5 door saloon car in Galloway Street, Dumfries.

The victim, who was wearing a bright orange jacket, was crossing the road when a she was hit by the car and knocked to the ground. The vehicle stopped momentarily before driving off, turning into Glasgow Street.

The woman was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where she was found to have bruising and a potentially fractured right ankle.

Constable John Macbeth, based in Dumfries said “It amazes me that the driver of the car failed to stop after the crash. We are keen to hear from anyone who might have witnessed this collision and has not already spoken to police, or anyone who may have captured the vehicle on their dash cameras.

I would also encourage the the driver of the car to come forward to clear the matter up. Police at Dumfries can be contacted through the 101 number.”
