NITH INSHORE RESCUE HOLD NAMING CEREMONY OF NEW BOAT ‘CAULY’

Nith Inshore Rescue – Held their Annual Open Day today Saturday the 11th of July , and also held the official naming ceremony of their new boat ‘Cauly’

Large crowds turned out to support the crew of Nith Inshore Rescue who held their annual open day at the Caerlaverock Boat House , Glencaple  today Saturday 11 July .

This was a special Day for the Crew and for the family of Dumfries teenager ‘Macauley McQueen’ who tragically  died in the  River Nith in Dumfries in the early hours of 22 December 2014, as the official naming ceremony of the teams brand new inshore rescue boat  ‘Cauly’ in honour of him was carried out today by  Lady Herries . Macauleys father also reveled a new plaque in dedication to his son on the wall inside the Boat house, a large crowd including many of Macauleys family and friends gathered for this very  emotional unveiling  .

As well as the lifeboat “St John” and various rescue equipment on display the the crowd also got to enjoy seeing the HM Coastguard, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service from Dumfries Community Fire Station, St Michael’s Services and a large number of motorcyclists, who  completed their annual charity run at the boat house.

A spokesperson for the Nith Rescue service stated ” We would like to thank all who have kindly donated and supported our service in the past.”
