Primary Education Degree Gets Unconditional Accrediation

There were smiles all round at the School of Interdisciplinary Studies on Thursday (16 May 2019) when the Primary Education with Teaching Qualification Degree received unconditional accreditation from the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) for the third time.

Anne Ferguson is the Leader of the MA Primary Education programme and was part of the team which presented the programme to the GTCS in Edinburgh.  Mrs Ferguson said:  “This is really wonderful news for the University of Glasgow, for Dumfries and Galloway and for students on our primary teaching programme.
“We pride ourselves on providing students with an innovative programme which is benchmarked to the highest standards and this unconditional reaccreditation shows that we have maintained these standards since the last accreditation in 2013.
“Students who come here benefit from being taught using innovative approaches in small groups in a friendly and inclusive environment.  I am delighted to be involved with such an excellent course and extend a welcome to the next cohort of students who will be joining us later in the year.”
Professor Carol Hill, Head of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Director of Campus,   said:  “We have an outstanding team of staff on this prestigious degree programme and they have worked tirelessly to provide students with a creative and inspiring learning experience.
“I congratulate the academics on their achievement and urge anyone who wants to pursue a career in primary education to get in touch to find out more about how they can join this excellent programme.”
