Vattenfall Connects With Local Businesses At Dumfries Exhibition

Energy developer Vattenfall was in Dumfries last week connecting with local businesses at the Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce’s Business Exhibition.

Project Manager Matthew Bacon and Regional Liaison Officer Carol Kane were on hand at the Crichton event to highlight opportunities for local businesses to join Vattenfall’s south west Scotland supply chains and encourage more Dumfries and Galloway-based businesses to supply the renewables sector.

Independent research has shown that Vattenfall’s local approach as they build South Kyle Wind Farm north of Carsphairn has generated £44million of spend with businesses based in Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway, with pipeline projects such as Quantans Hill Wind Farm offering a potential further £7million boost to the local economy.

Vattenfall’s Matthew Bacon said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to speak to us at our stand, and to the Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce for organising the exhibition. Vattenfall’s local approach at South Kyle Wind Farm has demonstrated what can be achieved when a developer focuses on maximising opportunities for local businesses, and we are determined to build on that with our future projects. Participating in events like todays b2b exhibition is great way for us to meet more local companies, and hear what they’d like to see from onshore wind farm projects in their area.”
