The Kirkcudbright RNLI lifeboat, Sheila Stenhouse, launched a total of 5 times in just 2 weeks. The first incident involved supporting Kippford RNLI when a yacht ran aground on Saturday 3 May.
On Saturday 3 May, Kirkcudbright RNLI were tasked by HM Coastguard to assist Kippford RNLI lifeboat when a yacht ran aground.
The charity lifeboat launched with a volunteer crew onboard, but was stood down shortly after and returned to station to be made ready for next service.
Then on Tuesday 13 May at 7.21pm, the volunteer crew at Kirkcudbright RNLI launched the lifeboat after being tasked again by HM Coastguard to assist in a search for a missing person.
The lifeboat crew conducted a thorough search before being stood down later that evening. The lifeboat was returned back to the station to be made ready for next service.
The volunteer crew pagers sounded again on Wednesday 14 May at 9.11am when the lifeboat was requested to launch and conduct another search of the area. The charity’s lifeboat was later stood down, before being tasked again at 5.24pm.
On Thursday 15 May at 4.24pm, the Kirkcudbright RNLI lifeboat launched again to conduct another search at request of HM Coastguard and Police Scotland.
A spokesperson for Kirkcudbright RNLI lifeboat says: ‘We would like to send our condolences to the family at this very difficult time.
‘We would also like to thank our volunteer crew for their continued support to respond to every callout and request, as well as the Fleet Bay Rescue Boat for their help and support throughout.’
