D&G[ WASPI Campaign Heads To East Of Region

Dumfries and Galloway WASPI campaignOver 7,000 women are affected by the increase in pension age and WASPI has been set up to campaign as many people received no warning that this was going to happen. The group is now trying to reach out to the east of Galloway to help women complain to the DWP about their lack of notice.

WASPI had their local meeting in Dumfries at Pumpernickel cafe in Friars Vennel.

Their speaker was Christine Sinclair from D and G Citizens Advice bureau who spoke about how they could offer help to those women born in the 1950s who may need help with finances, housing and debt difficulties. They have drop in surgeries in the whole county.

WASPI women are busy writing complaint letters to the DWP who failed to inform them of their changes in pension age giving no time to make suitable plans for their retirement. Many of them have given up working to care for grand children , sick relatives or suffer ill health them selves.

The letters are important in their campaign to get some sort of recompense for the DWP s poor administration of many million women in this age group.

WASPI are going to get enough evidence via these letters to take the DWP to court.

If you are affected by these issues join us on Dumfries and Galloway WASPI FB page or www.waspi.co.uk to find letter templates to help you complain about this maladministration. Next meeting in Dumfries is 3-5pm 01/03/17. For those affected in the east there will be a meeting on Saturday 17/02/18 2pm at Franca Bruno’s shop opposite the main car park in Gatehouse of Fleet for those still working or live in Castle Douglas or east of Galloway.  More members needed. Help given with letters of complaint. Contact Delya if you need more information. News on the Dumfries and Galloway WASPI FB page or email – [email protected]
