Gong Hay Fat Choy as Dumfries gets set to Celebrate the Chinese Year of the Dog

Everyone at the Dumfries and Galloway Multicultural Association DGMA are set to welcome the Chinese New Year 2018 Celebrations.

A Spokes person for the DGMA told DGWGO “We are having a big party at the former Baker’s Oven, High Street, Dumfries on the 17th of February between 11am and 1pm.  Everyone is invited to bring along food to share with all at the event. (It would be very much appreciated if everyone could label the dish so people are aware what’s in the dishes.)” 

 

They Continued “Members of the community can just drop-in to take part in family friendly Arts and Crafts workshops, the people of Dumfries will be treated to the spectacular sight of the traditional Lion Dance around 12 noon which will be performed by our talented young people to showcase the Year of the Young People 2018. After savour the cuisines of many countries, between 1pm-3pm, we have One Day Without Us program, listen to live music and see some of the contributions New Scots make to local life in Dumfries and Galloway.”

 

The Chinese New Year begins on the Friday,16th of February 2018, and it is the year of the Dog. People born in the dog year are said to be hard workers and exceptionally loyal. The Year of the Dog is expected to bring social awareness, morals and ethics. Problems will be resolved in a civic, kind manner and there will be more acceptance than rejection.

 

The DGMA Also stated “This year, Morrisons of Dumfries is the proud sponsor our Chinese New Year 2018 celebrations. We would like to acknowledge the support from Dumfries and Galloway Council.”
