A message from event organiser Kyle Lindsay:
I am running this charity event as it hits very close to home. Hearing and the enjoyment of being able to hear is something I have always taken for granted until 2 years ago . My niece is the first born profoundly deaf child born in Dumfries and Galloway in 14 years. My family has no experience of deafness and found this news very hard to accept until the National Deaf Children’s Society became involved. The NDCS have offered excellent and second to none support by providing family events, equipment, information on relevant strategies for deaf children, events my niece can attend, and various training for families to enable my niece to be supported effectively by all my family allowing her to reach her potential in life. I want to host this event to allow the charity to continue to support similar families as the charity is not government funded and relies on fundraising to support deaf children in the UK to reach their full potential. One single awareness event costs approximately £1000 per family. Deafness is a disability that is often missed by our government and services and this charity does all it can to support deaf children and their families to lead a positive and happy life. The NDCS is a massive part of my niece’s life and I want to help other families in this situation to receive this support. Thank you in advance for your support,
