Music in Dumfries presents Jamal Aliyev (Accompanist Jams Coleman)

Born in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1993, Jamal studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and at the Royal College of Music, where he is currently completing his Masters degree. In summer 2017, Jamal made his debut at the BBC Proms and he and Jams Coleman featured on the BBC Proms Extra! Programme. Also in 2017, Jamal won the Arts Club Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award.

Engagements in 2017/18 include appearances as soloist at the Royal Festival Hall with the Philharmonia Orchestra and performances of two concertos at the George Enescu Festival at the Atheneum, broadcast live on Medici television. Jamal is a selected YCAT artist and he records with Classic FM and Warner Classics.

Jamal will be accompanied by Jams Coleman, a pianist who enjoys a rich and varied musical life performing as a soloist, chamber musician and vocal accompanist. Jams read music at Girton College , Cambridge, where he was also a choral scholar and in 2016 completed his Masters degree at the Royal Academy of Music.
