New Beltie Book from the Curly Tale team

The team behind Curly Tale Books have recently published the third book in their popular Beltie book series – Big Bill and the Larking Lambs.

This new adventure features a variety of well-loved characters from some of the other Curly Tale books including of course Big Bill, his Beltie bairns Bertie and Buntie, and some very mischievous lambs. The story takes place on Big Bill’s farm on a dull and rainy summers day. Everyone on the farm is very bored, especially Bertie and Buntie and so the lambs come up with a bright idea to cheer everybody up, but, it involves playing a trick on Big Bill. How will this turn out? Follow us on this new adventure with Big Bill and the Larking Lambs to find out.

Curly Tale Books is a small, independent publishing company based at the Wigtown bookshop of the same name. Writer and Illustrator Jayne Baldwin and Shalla Gray launched the business three years ago with the aim of producing high quality children’s books with a focus on the landscape, places and animals of Galloway. Shalla said: “This new addition to the Big Bill series marks our eighth book being published, so it is very exciting for us!”

The team recently featured on an episode of STV’s Border Life where they were interviewed about publishing and about the inspiration behind their work. Jayne and Shalla are also delighted that their books are currently featured at the Edinburgh International Book Festival for the second time.

Big Bill and the Larking Lambs by Jayne Baldwin and Shalla Gray is available now from the Curly Tale bookshop in Wigtown along with other independent bookshops and outlets and from on line retailers.
