Quotes

Laura (Lolli) Hudson Mackay ARPS – Food Photographer – Lolliography

“As Lead Photographer at Shambellie House, I’m thrilled to welcome such an inspiring lineup of speakers. This Convention is more than a gathering, it’s a celebration of vision, storytelling and the power of photography to connect us all. Whether you’re just starting out or have years behind the lens, I believe everyone will leave feeling re-energised, inspired and more connected to their creative voice.”

John McKenna, Glasgow based professional Photographer

“I was first introduced to Shambellie House while preparing a photographic exhibition for the Japan Festival in late 2024 and was immediately impressed by everyone involved in the running of the House. Their enthusiasm and commitment to providing a first class facility for artists working across a wide range of media was impressive. As a photographer, I recognised at once that this was a centre which valued photography as both an enjoyable hobby but also an important art-form in it’s own right. Since my initial contact with the team I have approached them with various ideas for future exhibitions and each time I have found them to be supportive and enthusiastic.

I was invited to join the Photographers of Shambellie House (PoSH) group earlier in 2025 and have now seen first-hand the work which goes on behind the scenes to ensure Shambellie remains a centre of artistic excellence; one which New Abbey and the wider Dumfries and Galloway district should be rightly proud.

I said on my first visit that I wished there was a facility like Shambellie House closer to my home in the central belt – and I still wish this was the case.”
