Amateur photographers in North West Dumfries are being given the opportunity to win a Nikon Camera worth £250 in a competition launched by Creative Futures Lincluden and Lochside. The competiton invites participants to submit their best photo which answers the question, ‘I like Lincluden/Lochside because…’

Kirstin McEwan, organiser of the competition commented: “We are looking for submissions from people of all ages and are accepting all forms of photography – camera phones, tablets, iPods, digital and film cameras. We hope that the competition will give the community of North West Dumfries the opportunity to show everyoen what it is they love about their local area and let others see the amazing things that happen in Lincluden and Lochside.”

Images are to be sent to the Creative Futures L+L Facebook page or emailed to kirstin@thestove.org. Photos can be submitted until 5pm on Wednesday 21st February. A public exhibition of all submitted photos will take place on Thursday 22nd February at 6pm at Lincluden Community Centre, where judging will take place and the winner will be announced.

The exhibition will be the prelude to an exciting new weekly photography club taking place in Lincluden Community Centre starting on Thursday 1st March, which is aimed to inspire and challenge photography skills. During the weekly sessions, participants will learn various skills such as editing photos for social media, creating a portfolio for college or university and learning creative techniques from some of Dumfries and Galloway’s best photographers. The group is open to all ages and all levels of photographers. People can register their interest and find out more at the public exhibition or get in touch via Facebook or by emailing kirstin@thestove.org.
