LOTS GOING ON IN DUMFRIES THIS WEEKEND

1 a 1 a in our townOne of the best loved and respected street entertainers to visit the Edinburgh Fringe, J-P Koala comes to Dumfries High Street on Saturday to entertain shoppers and will kick off a 1 a 1 a in our town 5summer of free family events as part of the In Our Town programme.

An Australian national, J-P has enthralled audiences at the Fringe for over ten years and his show has travelled the streets and festivals of the world.
His comedy shows are always filled with fun, laughter and some amazing stunts and guarantees a family-friendly spectacle with something in the show for everyone.

The event, which takes place at 1pm and 3pm, is free and is just one of many booked for the town centre over the summer months with some amazing acts and activities booked for the High Street, Dock Park and the Whitesands until September 14.

On Sunday, the highly popular Spinning Jenny returns to the Plainstanes from noon to 5pm with her circus workshops. This is a rare opportunity to learn some circus skills like juggling, spinning plates and even walking on stilts.

Also taking place in Dumfries over the weekend is Life, Love and Liberty, the spectacular annual Burns Pageant.1 a 1 a in our town 6

This is the story of Robert Burns’ final years told in the streets where he walked, wrote his poetry, lived and died.

With a professional cast, supported by 40 of Dumfries’ finest actors and dancers, a five-strong band and a production team of over 15.

Performances begin on Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 2.30pm and 6pm. The event meets on the Whitesands, opposite the Coach and Horses, and will promenade through Dumfries, so audiences are advised to wear suitable footwear and clothing.
