DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY BASED COLD FURY KICKBOXING ACADEMY HAVE MEDAL GLORY

Cold Fury Kickboxing Academy and their sister club Cold Fury Freestyle Karate took a team of 6 fighters to the IASKA Scottish Open Championships in Paisley on 16th of November.

The team of fighters consisted of 5 fighters from Cold Fury Kickboxing Academy, Amanda Young, Michelle Young, Ross Lamont, Andy Watson and Ryan Todd. Cold Fury Freestyle Karate was represented by the youngest team member Niamh Ellmore 11 years old.
The team walked away with 4 Bronze medals, 4 silver medals/trophies and 2 Gold trophies (Scottish champion in their weight class). Two of the team were fighting at competition level for the first time.
The coaches on the day were Rab Walls Assistant Instructor at Cold Fury Kickboxing Academy and Head Instructor of Cold Fury Freestyle Karate, Shania Walls Assistant Instructor at Cold Fury Kickboxing Academy and Senior Instructor of Cold Fury Freestyle Karate. Amanda Young, Senior Instructor of Cold Fury Kickboxing Academy also helped out with the coaching on the day.
Amanda won a silver trophy, Michelle won a silver trophy and a bronze medal, Ryan gained a sliver trophy, Ross took 2 Gold trophies making him Scottish champion in both his categories. Andy took a silver trophy and a bronze medal, Niamh won two bronze medals.
Cold Fury Kickboxing Academy continue to train hard twice a week in Dumfries on Tuesdays at 6.30pm till 8pm and Friday at 6pm till 7.30pm evenings at the YMCA on Castle street and Cold Fury Freestyle Karate hold classes in Lochmaben on a Monday and Wednesday night at 6pm till 7.15pm at the porta cabin in the primary school ground. The next IASKA Competition is in February 2015. The club’s goal is to have more fighters represent our area in the next competition – we need sponsorship to enable us to do this as transportation costs have hampered many members being able to attend this time around.
