Kirkcudbright Half Marathon Cancelled Due To Covid-19 Risk

The organisers of the Kirkcudbright Half Marathon, Walk, 10k and Fun Run, which was due to take place on 23rd May 2020 ahve announced that this years events have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 Situation.

Richard Nash,Race Director Stated “We have been carefully following the development of the Covid-19 Coronovirus. Our concern has been not to overreact to the pandemic, nor to under-react and find ourselves acting without sensitivity to the health of our community, participants, volunteers and their extended family and friends.
We have taken into account latest UK government and medical advice that the outbreak may continue for a number of months; recommended self-isolation of at-risk groups over the next 12 weeks; the Scottish government advice on large gatherings; and finally the national school closures.
As such, we have made the difficult decision to cancel KAHM 2020, only the second time in its 37 years. For those who have pre-entered one of our events online, we will communicate directly with regards to our refund policy within the next week. We would like to thank this year’s sponsors for their very generous support of a very worthy cause.”
Liz Kettle, Kirkcudbright Academy Parent Council said “We will be back next year and look forward very much to seeing you for KAHM 2021. In the meantime keep healthy, and keep running!”
