Nunholm win to go top of the league – Cricket News

In Western Championship Two, Nunholm won well by 81 runs at Ferguslie 2nds to top the table as the only unbeaten side in the league.

A key seventy-run 7th wicket partnership between youngster Lachlan Osmond, who hit 39, and Andy Reed, with 28 not out, got Nunholm to a defendable total of 198 for 7. That was after opener Wahid Jabarkhil had given his side a good start with his score of 54.

That total proved too much for the home side who reached 117 all out in reply. Nunholm steadily took wickets, and Sultan Kamran led the way with four, to be top of the wicket takers in the league. He was aided by Ross Lamb with three, and Lachlan Osmond also picked up a further two to gain the Chris Brockwell Horticultural Player of the Match award for an all-round contribution which determined the outcome of the game.

In Western Premiership One, visitors Ferguslie had a comfortable win over  Dumfries Cricket Club after amassing a total of 341 for 8 wickets in fast scoring conditions at Nunholm and which included an unbeaten century from Uzair Ahmad. Ben Plowman, with 3 wickets, and Chris Brockwell, with 2, were the pick of the Dumfries bowlers. Dumfries then lost three early wickets but a 4th wicket partnership between Adam Malik, who hit 51, and Drew Dawson, with a Braidwoods Dumfries Player of the Match innings of 66 not out, revived the innings but Dumfries finished a long way short and were all out for 200.

Dumfries Under-13s lost to Stainton by 18 runs on Friday evening. Danny Allsop starred with the ball hitting the stumps each time in his hat-trick and Dashiel Trigg top scored with 30 retired but Dumfries ended on 110 for 3 chasing the visitor’s 121 for 4 with skipper Edward Ellicott unbeaten on 10 not out.

On Saturday, the 1st team, Dumfries Cricket Club, play at Prestwick in Western Premiership One and Nunholm are at home to Hamilton Crescent in Western Championship Two. In round 2 of the Scottish Cup, Vigilant Dumfries play Clydesdale at Nunholm on Sunday.
