Traffic Loop Installation On The A75 Between Garroch And Drummore Roundabouts

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking traffic loop installation on the A75 between the Garroch Roundabout and Drummore Roundabout, west of Dumfries, from Wednesday 15th February and Thursday 16th February 2023. The installation will take place between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

This scheme will benefit around 4,300 vehicles using this route each day, completing works which commenced in February 2022 to improve the condition of the carriageway and reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in the future. Traffic loops help to monitor the flow of traffic on the trunk road network.

The work will be carried out using an overnight road closure and a signed diversion will be in operation. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.

The signed diversion will operate as follows:

  • Westbound traffic will exit the A75 at Garroch Roundabout onto Garroch Loaning and will continue through a further roundabout before reaching Cargenbridge roundabout. Traffic will turn right onto A711 to Dalbeattie and proceed to Dalbeattie through Beeswing. Traffic will continue through Dalbeattie, turning right onto the B794 through Haugh of Urr to rejoin the B794. Eastbound traffic will take the route in reverse.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
