WWT Caerlaverock Announces Bird Themed Events For February Half Term

WWT Caerlaverock will be hosting a fun-filled bird-themed event for February half-term, giving families a one-of-a-kind opportunity to get up close with the UK’s greatest winter wildlife.

Taking place from Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 February, ‘The Big Hideout’ will see WWT Caerlaverock turn its Peter Scott Observatory into Hideout HQ.

Binoculars and telescopes will be available to borrow, and experts on wetland nature will be on hand to help guests discover many of the birds that flock to the centre from around the world in the colder months.

There will also be bird themed crafts and interactive activities for all the family to enjoy.

Budding and seasoned bird spotters alike should be on the lookout for charismatic whooper swans, gaggles of geese and whistling wigeon.

Anna at WWT Caerlaverock commented: “It’s amazing what you can see when you hide in the right place. This February half-term, our bird hides will become the perfect Hideouts for families to spend a fun-filled day together discovering incredible winter wetland wildlife.”

As well as The Big Hideout, families visiting WWT Caerlaverock this February half-term will be able to enjoy more wild and wonderful activities, including the daily commentated swan feed, and Quentin Blake Drawn to Water trail.

All activities are included in admission or free for members and children aged four and under. For more information and to book tickets, visit https://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/caerlaverock/whats-on/the-big-hideout-5 or call 01387 770200.
