NEW DAILY WILDLIFE WATCHING AT KIRROUGHTREE

Visitors are being encouraged to discover the wild side of the Galloway Forest Park this summer with new wildlife watching events taking place every day at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre.

The free of charge events called Hide and Seek are designed to help people get more out of their wildlife watching time in the forest, with expert advice, tips on how to best use wildlife hides and suggestions of species to look out for.

Galloway Forest Park Ranger Lucy Hadley who will be leading some of the events said:
“The new wildlife hide at Kirroughtree is getting lots of wild visitors, and we’ve recently moved the feeding stations closer to it so people can get better views of the animals and birds who visit. So it seemed the perfect time to host daily wildlife watching events.

“Recent visitors to the feeding tables at the hide have included a roe deer with her beautiful twin fawns, cheeky red squirrels, nuthatches and last week we spotted 5 young woodpeckers popping down for a feast.

“The Galloway Forest Park offers exceptional wildlife watching opportunities, and these new free events are designed to help people make the most of it. We’ve got our fingers crossed that we get some exciting visitors to the feeding tables to introduce visitors to during the events!”

Hide and Seek wildlife watching events take place every day during July and August at 11am at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre. The drop in events are free of charge, are suitable for all ages and all experience levels and are fully accessible for buggies and wheelchairs.
