Special Olympics Team Head To Switzerland

In 2018 Dumfries and Galloway Disability Sport started a small Alpine Skiing club based at Carlisle Snowsports Club. In less than a year, four club members have begun to compete in Special Olympics competitions and have qualified for the Special Olympics Great Britain 2020 National Alpine Skiing Competition in Crans Montana in Switzerland.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the local lads, but having only qualified on 30th June, they have a mountain to climb before even get there, as they need to raise over £10,000 to get the athletes, coaches, guide and support team to Switzerland.

They will be holding a range of fundraising events throughout the rest of the year and have launched a crowdfunder to collect donations. The boys and their families would be hugely grateful for any donations or sponsorship, to enable the team to accomplish their dreams and ski in Switzerland.
