The Organiser’s Of one of the regions newest festivals Jim & Rose Dunlop of Family Fest, were going to hold a tribute during this year’s festival at Dalton in memory of ‘Jamie Gilroy’ founder of The Wickerman Festival.

Jamie sadly passed away in December 2014 , But had been an fantastic mentor to Jim and Rose by helping them with advice and information to get them started with Family Fest.  Unfortunately due to circumstances beyone Jim and rose’s control  the Family  Festival was cancelled  for this year .

They Both decided they had to do something to honor Jami’s memory. Jim & Rose have a huge affection for the Wickerman festival , they even got engaged there back in 2011.

They told DGWGO ” Over the years Jamie had been very kind to us including giving advice to us early on with setting up Family Fest. We felt that we had to do something to remember him, something to give to his wife and daughter so they could sit in their garden with a glass of wine and remember Jamie’s life among his favourite flowers. So we organised a memorial bench to give to Patsy & Jen. We hope that it brings great memories to them and their family and friends. To remember him in the years to come and keep his spirit close by as he truly was a fantastic person to have known. ”

Rose & Jim are also  planning on planting a Yellow Friendship Rose at Family Fest 2016 and have asked Patsy & Jen to open the festival to the public .

Jen and Patsy where both overjoyed when they were presented with the Bench last week , that is currently placed in the front garden at East Kirkcarswell, Home of the Wickerman Festival.
