Locharbriggs Community Centre Benefits From Local Fund Assistance

Locharbriggs Community Centre are now displaying new curtains and doors thanks to funding assistance from The South West Environmental Agency Trust (SWEAT) and The Community Benefit Fund from the Dalswinton Windfarm.

Members of SWEAT presented £2000 towards the project to Locharbriggs Community Centre Association (LCCA) chairman John Caskie and committee members at the recent LCCA management committee meeting.

John Caskie thanked SWEAT Chairman John Charteris and secretary Christine Cameron for their help in securing the funding. The Locharbriggs Community Centre, which is well used and a popular facility in the Locharbriggs Community, have benefited from SWEAT in the past and had sought funding for the interior doors in the committee room and back hall area of the Centre, along with hanging new curtains round the main hall.

John Charteris congratulated the LCCA members for their initiative in keeping the Centre upgraded with the various improvements they have undertaken over many years, with their own fund raising activities and the support from outside agencies. Mr Charteris intimated that SWEAT are always happy to support communities that help each other and Locharbriggs and its Community Centre are prime examples of true community spirit.

LCCA had also secured funding from The Community Benefit Fund (CBF) from The Dalswinton Windfarm to assist with the curtains and doors project.

As ‘fund managers’ for the Locharbriggs area regarding the CBF John Caskie reported to members that apart from the LCCA receiving funding for their projects another eight community groups in Locharbriggs had received funding through ‘Year Nine’ of the CBF scheme.
