50 Years in Stitches For Taylor Leonora Tait

Leonora Tait started to work G Livingston & Son Taylor’s in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway on the 15th of January 1968. Today she was presented with a gold chain as a thank you for her 50 years of service.

Owner of the family run business Andrew Livingston told DGWGO News today “After her first day at work 50 years ago,Nora went home and said that she didn’t think she would be here long! She felt intimidated by all the faces working in our small tailoring workroom.
As an apprentice her wage hardly covered the cost of her bus fare to Castle Douglas so she regularly hitch hiked back and forward from her home at Twynholm.”
Andrew Continued “Nora is the 3rd tailor to complete half a century with our firm and has worked for four of the five generations of G Livingston & Son. The other two tailors were John Trainor and his father James.”
