New state of the art wedding and conference centre offers fantastic career opportunities at a stunning location just off the A75 Euro route in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway.
Local couple Duncan And Vicki McConchie have built the highly successful ‘Laggan Outdoor Activity Centre’ situated near Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway over the last 10 years from scratch, winning many awards along the way as well as creating local jobs and helping get our region on the map with their fantastic array of attractions.
Now the hard working couple have thrown their hearts and souls into creating a unique world class Wedding and Conference centre right here in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway, which not only offers somewhere very bespoke and dynamic to celebrate any special occasion but is creating over 30 new much needed jobs in our area.

In 2007 Laggan Outdoor Activity Centre was born from a passion of Duncan’s to move back to Dumfries and Galloway. Starting with Archery in a cow shed at Mossyard, Duncans family farm, the business quickly grew and moved across the A75 to Laggan which then became the base for everything the business is now.

Over the last 10 years, Laggan Outdoor have built the UK’s longest Zip wire, the world’s only certified Human Slingshot, won the title of Scotland’s best Outdoor Adventure Experience, developed an all year round Cafe/Restaurant and built 10 Luxury Sea View Snugs which provide unique accommodation perched above the coast.

In 2015, Vicki gave up her career in Primary teaching to work along side her husband Duncan and help drive standards of presentation in all aspects of the business from their team, to customer areas and the interior design of the Snugs.
In a bold move, 2 years ago, Duncan and Vicki set about seeking permission and funding to turn their 250 year old farm steading into a high end wedding and conference centre.
Situated at Laggan with incredible views, the couple saw an opportunity to bring new people and business to the region by creating what will be a totally unique offering to Scotland.

Duncan Said “Over the past 2 years, planning permission and funding were secured and development began swiftly and the building and project are now 7 weeks from completion.
GG’s Yard has had a flying start so far, with 55 weddings booked and numerous clients discussing new and exciting events from all over the world”
He Continued “It’s now time to turn our attention to building the right team who will help us carry forward an inspirational service to match our totally unique and stunning venue.“
Duncan and Vicki have both emphasised the importance of having the right staff and welcome people of all ages and stages to apply for positions.
Vicki Said “Having a banquet of staff with an array of strengths and qualities will enhance our offering to clients and create a well balanced team. We would like to ensure all those interested that their working atmosphere will be warm and friendly with clear and well structured roles.”
Duncan, Vicki, Jamie and Chris are waiting to welcome you on-board as part of the team.
She Continued “We believe staff are an extension to our family where work colleagues are looked after and valued.”
The land on which the venue sits has been inherited by the husband and wife duo and they have watched previous generations grow businesses from home. They recognise and intend to transfer the important values of staff into their new venture.
Duncan said “Ideally we are looking for enthusiastic people who will bring positive energy and professional standards. All staff will undergo training so that values are consistent and clear. Both Vicki and I feel it is important to ensure everyone starts on the same foot. It is a new venture for the us and and equally a new venture for every staff member.”
He continued “Vicki has planned slick uniforms with a trendy ‘city bar’ feel that are appropriate for all ages.”
Duncan and Vicki emphasise that the number of hours you may have to offer can be as little or as many as you wish. They would also like to ensure everyone keen to apply for the jobs that they will not be tied down to work every weekend. They are realistic and understand we all have lives outside of work.
