Creating new job opportunities in the local areas was a commitment made by DGHP when it became part of Wheatley – Scotland’s leading housing, care and property- management group – in 2019. Nine of the new roles will be Modern Apprenticeships.

Work for the teams will include grass cutting, winter maintenance plans, moss and leaf clearances, tree cutting as well as tackling fly-tipping, improving ‘forgotten’ areas and planting flower beds and landscaping.

Matt Foreman, DGHP’s Managing Director, said: “The new Neighbourhood Environmental Teams will make a real difference to our communities right across Dumfries and Galloway. It’s a fantastic example of how we’re able to improve communities and create job and training opportunities for local people.

“If you can help us deliver outstanding customer service, have the relevant experience and take pride in your work, we’d like to hear from you.”

Full training will be given for the roles, which include team leader posts, environmental operatives and also gardener positions.
