Dragon Chooses Dumfries Company More Organised for Business Award

A new Dumfries-based company has received a business boost from Dragons Den judge and entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.   Mel Carruthers, owner of decluttering and organising company More Organised, was hand-picked by Theo as one of his national Small Business Sunday award winners last week.

Mel tweeted Theo about her business during ‘Small Business Sunday’ and was one of six weekly winners to be retweeted by Theo to his 500,000 Twitter followers.  The weekly initiative, set up by Theo in 2010, now has over 2200 #SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK. There are five other winners in the region – and Mel’s win this week comes hot on the heels of another local win last week, when botanical jewellery maker The Butterfly and Toadstool was selected as a winner.

Mel said, “I’ve only been in business for 8 months so to be selected by Theo Paphitis means a lot for my #SBS winners network will help to spread the word about how professional organisers like me can help people live lighter, less stressful lives”.
Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK.  My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish More Organised every success.”

More Organised was founded by Mel Carruthers to help families, homes and businesses get decluttered and organised. Following the success of her blog whilst living in Dubai, Mel quit her corporate job in the Middle East last summer and moved back to Dumfries to build her business.
