Loreburn Housing Association Announce David Ewing As Their Employability Key Worker

David Ewing has recently been appointed into this new and significant role. Based in Stranraer, at the upcoming Garrick Employment Hub, the role covers the West of the region (DG8 & DG9 postcode areas) working to engage, inspire and progress young people aged 16-24 towards employment in line with the Scottish Government’s Young Person Guarantee.

The person-centred service is tailored to each individual and aims to help develop their skills, qualifications, and knowledge for them to pursue and maintain a career in which they aspire to.

Whether it is assisting with practical aspects such as creating a CV, completing an application, or preparing for an interview; or supporting through activities to develop confidence, communication skills and resilience; David is available to help.

Through open communication David can help to identify any barriers to employment that young people may face, offering guidance and structured support to help address and overcome any issues.

With work experience being one of the many aspects that were negatively impacted by Covid-19, the role also engages with local employers to encourage and facilitate a range of opportunities. This not only aids personal development for young people but also provides valuable insight into the world of work and highlights any preparation required.

Similarly, for volunteering, David is working with a variety of agencies and organisations to create and promote opportunities to benefit both young people and the local community.

Championing a ‘No Wrong Door’ approach, David has already built some excellent relationships with a number of different organisations, sharing resources to provide more options for the people of Wigtownshire.

More information on the upcoming Garrick Employment Hub will be coming soon.
